Hasson Agents Lead the Pack in Satisfying Homebuyers and Sellers in Central Oregon

Date: July 15, 2008

In today's ever-changing Central Oregon real estate market, Realtors have to get creative and think of unconventional ways to meet the needs of their buyers and sellers. This year, The Hasson Company Realtors leads in closed real estate transactions in the Bend area - averaging six transactions per agent during the first half of 2008. Hasson agents are working together to make transactions work for all parties involved.

With homes averaging upwards of six months on the market before they sell, sellers' concerns have escalated in recent months. However, Jan Davey, Sunny Bliss and Cynthia Hinkle of the company's Bend office, were recently able to save the day for two Bend area families during a nontraditional transaction. The agents represented clients whose homes had been on the market between three and six months. Bliss and Hinkle's clients had an offer on their home and decided to put an offer on Davey's client's home with a contingency: Their home had to sell in order to complete the transaction.

The process was tumultuous; the buyer interested in Bliss and Hinkle's listing got cold feet, resulting in a sale fail. The two families were packing and unpacking multiple times and Davey's clients had a disabled daughter who was in and out of the hospital. Bliss and Hinkle's clients also had three young children. But when the transaction started to fall apart, the two Hasson agents worked together to make sure that the needs of both parties were met. "It took time, but things started coming together," said Davey. The home closed last week.

"This transaction would not have come together if both parties were not Hasson agents," said Bliss. "There is added value when Hasson agents work together when they represent both sides."

The Hasson Company's Bend office closed 281 listings so far this year - the most of any real estate firm in Central Oregon. During the month of June, the average days on market for homes in Central Oregon dropped to 174, which equates to 17 months of total inventory.

"We are pleased to see the continued success of our agents and the continued growth of our community," says Bill Berger, Managing Principal Broker of The Hasson Company's Bend office. "Our agents are adept at changing with the market and finding the best solutions for each of their clients."

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, The Hasson Company averaged the highest sales volume per agent in the nation when compared to firms with 200 or more agents. (Real Estate Magazine's Power Broker Report, April 2007 and 2008.)
